Investment strategy

We invest in seed phase start-ups

  • Typical investment size 50.000-200.000€ (full round of financing 200-500.000€)
  • No industry or geographical restrictions
  • We always co-invest in the company with existing investors as well as other seed-stage investment companies, funds, and angel investors.

Requirements for investment targets

  • The company already has existing turnover / contracts
  • The first version of the product / service is ready
  • We emphasize an experienced team and its expertise in the industry

Follow-up investments

Korpun Siemen’s first investment in the target company is 50.000-100.000€ and it can make further investments in subsequent rounds up to a total investment of 200.000€.

An essential part of Korpun Siemen’s investors’ operations is direct follow-up investments in the subsequent rounds. We work closely with SijoittajaPRO Corporate Finance in further investments.

We have previously focused on investing in later-stage companies and the same investors have jointly invested more than 60 million euros in SijoittajaPRO CF, in more than 70 companies. Now, via Korpun Siemen, we are expanding our operations to early-stage companies.

If the company develops according to plan, the investors in the next rounds of financing will be found among the existing investors. In addition, we have co-invested with several VC funds in different companies, so we and our investors also have excellent relationships to find the necessary co-investors for further rounds.

Why Korpun Siemen?

Korpun Siemen is backed by 33 investors who have combined their initial investment activities and have extensive experience in start-up, growth and family businesses in various industries. The company includes active angel investors, entrepreneurs in growth companies and investors who have already exited their companies. When evaluating investment targets, we always utilize our owners’ networks and special expertise from different industries.

Korpun Siemen has been established to solve three fundamental problems that we, as entrepreneurs seeking financing and investors, have identified in the start-up market.

The company applying for financing often has gathered the majority of the financing round from the current owners and lead investor, but the “last” 50-200.000€ is missing to secure the round. We are happy to be that last piece of the company’s growth story, meaning we co-invest with a lead investor.

It is usually hard for angel investors to obtain adequate diversification for their investments in early-stage companies. In many cases, their networks are within a certain industry / geographical area, which means that investments are too concentrated. Now as more than 30 active investors have joined forces, our network and investment opportunities are tenfolds greater than those of a private investor. In addition, top companies have popularity, and only the so-called super angels get to invest in them. We have written about this in our article on the Sijoittaja.fi -page Do you want to become a business angel. The joint venture now set up will solve many of the challenges previously outlined.

Funds and family companies have a well-defined investment strategy to which stage of companies they invest. The focus is usually on either the initial-, growth-or later stages. Because of this, a growth company will always have to look for new investors for the next stage of growth.

We have solved this problem. The owners of Korpun Siemen will invest directly in the target company’s further rounds as the company grows. Korpun Siemen works closely with SijoittajaPRO Corporate Finance in the evaluation of companies and further investments. SijoittajaPRO CF also performs all analyzes of Korpun Siemen Oy’s investment targets and enables co-investments also in the initial phase.

The same investors have been investing in cooperation with SijoittajaPRO CF for more than five years and investments have been made in more than 70 companies, more than 60 million euros. Meaning, if the company develops according to plan, investors in the next rounds of financing will be found in this same group.

What we offer:

Korpun Siemen is versatile. We offer both industry expertise and board work through our owner-investors to the various stages of the company.

If the company has a clear growth strategy and skilled lead investors with a good board, we will be happy also to stay in the back as a pure “financial investor” and let the company grow in peace.

Most importantly, our portfolio companies will have access to our extensive networks among investors. We are able to offer follow-up investments and support the company’s development together with SijoittajaPRO Corporate Finance until the company’s exit or listing.
